Sacred Tibet – Jokhang, Ramoche & Potala Palace

Jokhang Temple|The Spiritual Heart of Tibet

Jokhang Temple, located in the old city of Lhasa, is considered the holiest temple in Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the 7th century, it has been the destination of pilgrims who travel thousands of miles to perform full-body prostrations.

The temple houses one of the most sacred statues of the Buddha and represents the living heart of Tibetan devotion. Prayer wheels, incense smoke, and whispered mantras fill the air — creating an atmosphere of timeless faith.

Ramoche Temple|The Sister Temple of Jokhang

Ramoche Temple, also founded in the 7th century, is often called the “sister temple” of Jokhang. While smaller in scale, its spiritual significance is profound.

Ramoche is known for preserving ancient rituals and maintaining a quieter, more intimate spiritual energy. Many consider it a place of grounding and stability — complementary to Jokhang’s powerful collective devotion.

Potala Palace|The Sacred Mountain of Wisdom

Rising above Lhasa like a mandala carved into stone, Potala Palace is one of the most iconic spiritual structures in the world. Once the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas, it served as both political and spiritual center of Tibet.

White Palace symbolizes compassion and daily practice. Red Palace represents wisdom, ritual, and enlightenment.

Together, they embody the union of compassion and insight — core principles of Tibetan Buddhism.
